Who We Are
Fostering Innovation, Mentorship, and Global Impact
The Network of Emerging Scholars in Tourism and Hospitality (NEST) is a network for early-career scholars in tourism and hospitality, founded in 2023 by Florian Kock and Alexander Josiassen. Based on excellence, mentorship, and diversity, it aims to include and support the best of tomorrow’s thought leaders in these research fields.

The goal of the NEST is to support early-career scholars to craft and publish cutting-edge research that can make a real impact on our discipline and beyond.
The NEST is currently endowed with generous funding from the Danish organization DSEB and Tietgen foundation.

NEST seeks diversity both in terms of its members’ background, and research areas in tourism and hospitality.

At the moment, NEST has 20 early-career members and 10 (senior) fellows from all over the world.
Vision
Empower a diverse, global cohort of emerging tourism and hospitality scholars to set the field’s agenda with rigorous, high-impact research.
Mission
Identify and accelerate top early-career researchers—through selective membership, world-class mentorship, collaborative community, and targeted resources—so they craft and publish cutting-edge work that advances our discipline and benefits society.
